Phil: I am standing on top of the Seattle Space Needle. During the 1962 World's Fair, for which this building was built, the tower played host to around 20,000 visitors per day. And near the base of the Space Needle, the International Fountain. From the Seattle Center’s so-called centerpiece, seventeen all-male teams will embark on a Race around the world for one million dollars. The fourteen teams are now arriving via limousine. Who can stand up to the stress of travelling with each other for across the world? And who will come up with the right strategy of brains, brawn & teamwork to win (fictional) one million dollars? These questions are waiting to be answered, as we get ready to begin…ImANewUser Amazing Race 10.
In just a few minutes, you’ll be leaving on a Race around the world. Now as you travel, you’ll encounter fourteen (14) legs and various tasks. Tasks that not only challenge you physically, but mentally as well. At the end of each leg of the Race, there is a Pit Stop. Eleven of the thirteen Pit Stops are elimination points, and as you know, if you’re last, you will be eliminated. Sometime during the race course, there will also be a mid-leg elimination, so as much as possible, you’ll want to stay ahead. Got that?
Your first clue is waiting on top of the luggage you brought with you. When I give you the word, you may run over to your bags, read the clue and jump into one of the marked cars. What you do after that is completely up to you. The first team to cross the Finish Line at the end of the Race will win (fictional) one million dollars. *teams clap*
Is everybody ready? Good luck. Travel safe.
GO!!!
Info On The Clues:
Route Infos: These clues generally give you your next destination or require you to perform an additional task before you can move on. Typical Route Info tasks include questions, puzzles, picture searches, map send-ins & the like.
Detours: You have an option between two tasks. The Detour tasks for this Race will normally be either two posting tasks or two flash games.
Roadblocks: Only one team member can do this task. The Roadblock tasks will vary based on the design of the leg & the country visited.
Fast Forwards: Finish this & you can go straight to the Pit Stop. THERE IS A FAST FORWARD EVERY LEG, EXCEPT FOR THE LAST TWO, SO USE IT WISELY. The Fast Forward tasks are often puzzles, but sometimes I might sneak in a picture task or two.
Yields: There are going to be two in the entire Race. Yielding a team adds 30 minutes to their time. There will be a sign-up for the Yield, but one of the two Yields will require a task before you can use the Yield.
U-Turns: There are going to be two in the entire Race. U-turning a team will force that team to do the other side of the Detour they previously did not complete. The time added will depend on the outcome of the Detour. There will be a sign-up for the U-Turn, but one of the two U-Turns will be a Blind U-Turn.
Intersection/s: You’ll pair up with another team and work with them until further notice. Only one will appear in the entire Race, unless I plan to suddenly have a second Intersection.
Switchbacks: Can appear at any time, and will be based on former IANU AR tasks.
Pit Stops: The end of a leg. There are normally no Pit Stop tasks, but I may throw one last task if I feel evil.
Episode Quotes: Episode quotes are a big thing. For the first seven legs, the team with the episode quote will have a time credit of 20 minutes during the same leg. The rest of the legs, sans the final leg, the time credit will be 10 minutes. That’s still big, so as Tim Gunn says, “Make it work.”
Penalties: Penalties for missed tasks are as follows:
Detours – 120 minutes
Roadblocks – 90 minutes
Route Info Tasks – ranges from 60 to 120 minutes, depending on the task itself
Yields/U-Turns – no penalties, but I’ll take it as if you don’t want to use it
Flight Send-ins – you will automatically be put on the last flight, and an extra 15 minutes
Money Conversion Tasks – 30 minutes (15 minutes for not doing the task – same reasoning as the flight penalty – and 15 minutes for making me do it myself )
Other Tasks – no penalties unless otherwise stated
The Task Codes: This season, tasks will have the form 10-AA-BB. AA represents the leg (01, 02, 03, 04, etc.) while BB represents the task itself:
Detour – DT
Roadblock – RB
Fast Forward – FF
Yield – YD
U-Turn – UT
Intersection – IS
Flights – FL
Money Conversion – MC
Route Info Tasks – 01, 02, 03, etc.
Pit Stop Tasks – PS
The In-Race Leaderboard: Every time I update, there will be an In-Race Leaderboard, unless otherwise stated. The columns are as follows. Currently In states which place you are in as of the moment. The Team, User, Roadblock Tally & Missed Tasks columns are self-explanatory. The Current Time indicates the day & the time you are in right now. Money indicates how much cash you have. The Credit Card column indicates how much cash is left in your credit card.
Your Credit Card: Unlike other Races, the money you spend on flights will play a big factor too. Your credit card will be reloaded an amount (normally $10,000) every three legs. The flight fare will be subtracted from your credit amount. Big FAT Note: If your flight fare exceeds the amount of cash left in your credit card, you will have a begging penalty of $1/minute, so choose your flights wisely.
