Which particular editions of past games here and on RFF do you think were the best? Discuss.

My opinion? The single best was Smiley's Amazing Race Game Season 1. Classic, drama, secret plots, and an unpredictable outcome at the end. Yes, I am biased, but even if I wasn't this very well may be the best. I don't think it can be beat, but try me.

Race Course:

LEG ONE: San Antonio, Texas, USA -> Edinburgh, Scotland
- The first ever Virtual Race leg, and...it wasn't exactly a huge success. Sharon & Jaye essentially started owning the season from the beginning, while everyone else took aaaaaages to get going. Seriously, at one point, there was like a 20 minute gap when only AT (*gasp*, AT played in this season!) posted anything to move. Furthermore, smiley managed to mess up the instructions right from the get go. The timings then went all weird, while the only active teams (which were AT, Sharon, DDU, April R & Osten mainly) more or less set the standard for skits...oh, and smiley didn't tell people when their flights landed in Glasgow. Then, Smiley gave meatball a rather random 2 hour penalty. Everyone trundled on through a rather boring RB, which was of the "post this, then this, then this" variety. Everyone active hopped on the bus to Edinburgh, which actually left like, 24 hours or so after the leg started (and you people complained about ys' race?), and the Detour in this leg proved to be just as boring as the RB, with teams either making a weave or rubbing a brass etching. After that, the people left standing randomly jumped in to a pool (see, that's better than randomly collecting a water sample) and then headed to the PS, which was at Edinburgh Castle. Sharon & Jaye checked in first, Tony & Vannessa second, and Smiley decided to randomly end the leg after a painfully long time and eliminated Michael & Barney (who?)

LEG TWO: Edinburgh, Scotland -> Lokrum, Croatia
- Back racing, teams headed to the Museum of Scotland and were warned of a Yield ahead! Then they were asked if they wanted to Yeild anyone, which Kimmy & Timmy did to Dan & Cobra (as to why, don't ask...). Osten found a hole in the system when he jokingly tried to buy tickets for both Tony & Vannessa and Elizabeth and Liz, only to find out he actually had booked tickets for them. The teams then went to UNESCO World Heritage Site, because there's only one of them in the world (>_>), where there was another crap-ass RB that had people wandering to find a door. No luck involved, too, which made it even more painful. Then the actives went to Stradun, apparently the main street in Dubrovnik (and by this point, it's hard to believe whatever smiley's posting), and found a Detour about candles.

Seriously, candles.

Furthermore, it quickly turned out that the Detour was painfully rigged in the favour of "Make the Candles". The PS was some island called Lokrum, and Sharon & Jaye checked in first, Tony & Vannessa second, and Smiley decided to randomly end the leg after a painfully long time and eliminated Jennifyr & Rebecca (who?)

LEG THREE: Lokrum, Croatia -> Marrakech, Morocco
- Drama! Suspense! Rigging! Oh...wait, no, actually there were going to be a lot of "random" tasks in this leg. Dan & Cobra took an early lead, but found out that suddenly you couldn't book tickets for other teams - "other teams" here being Sharon & Jaye. Then, things speeded up, and Sharon & Jaye and Elizabeth & Liz's flight mysteriously was delayed, putting it 2 1/2 hours behing everyone else. Now, I'd like to take time out right now to point something out. Teams were flying to Essaouira, Morocco, near Marrakech - then were offered a Fast Forward in Tanjier, approximately 300 or so miles away. Keep in mind, the PS is in Marrakech. 600 mile round trip for a FF. Now that is leg planning. The Detour was between Counting or Mending, with Counting apparently being random luck over whether you got the answer right or not. Sharon & Jaye happened to get the answer wrong, while Dave & Osten sped ahead, going through the Roadblock (...13 clues in 7000 pools), which happened to be in Fes, about 200 miles from Marrakech. They checked in first and won a "mystery prize", but to win that they had to come in 1st or 2nd in the next leg. Suddenly, Sharon & Jaye's luck changed and they sped through the rest of the leg to check in second, while Dan & Cobra, having appeared halfway through the leg, took the FF and came 3rd. Carnie & Pope were eliminated, despite having made more appearances in legs than other teams.

LEG FOUR: Marrakech, Morocco -> Mumbai, India
- Teams started the leg by going to Agadir (which happened to be the Morocco Pit Stop in W&C TAR 1, by the way), where they had to milk a camel. The familiar trio of Dave & Osten, Sharon & Jaye and Tony & Vannessa found themselves at the front, and Sharon & Jaye took the lead and found out they were headed to Mumbai, India. Bizzarely, Vannessa randomly spilled milk and lost time, which I only noticed after like, five updates. Seriously, you need to read this shit for the hilarity of smiley hosting a race. A bunch of random shit meant teams were arriving 26 hours apart...which smiley apparently planned. Once the lead three were in Mumbai, they got a Detour at some place I'm not even going to bother C+P'ing. Sorting/Scrubbing, another random set of "post this" tasks that smiley just looooooved. Sharon & Jaye left that in first and got to a random "find your clue" luck task in a cave, where they were somehow held up the forced of "luck" and Tony & Vannessa caught up to them. It didn't matter though, as a random bus choosing task later, Sharon & Jaye checked in at a rather random PS, with Dan & Cobra found some "luck" and came 2nd, with Tony & Vannessa in 3rd. Smiley then ended the leg, angering some people, and he then randomly restarted it on Thanksgiving, apparently. A long boring second trip through the leg left us with a satisfying Kimmy & Timmy elimination.

LEG FIVE: Mumbai, India -> Rotterdam, The Netherlands
- You thought my planning was weird? Back to Europe, and Sharon took an early lead, only to find out that by sheer chance, the flight was delayed, putting her 21 hours behind the lead team, which now were Tony & Vannessa and Elizabeth & Liz. Everyone called smiley out, and the flight was ever so slightly bumped up, but still wayyyy behind the leaders. Sharon & Jaye's tactic of buying tickets from old ladies failed, and Elizabeth & Liz led as they went to Anne Frank House. Then, Sharon pointed out the rather blatant riging that had so far been going on, and smiley finally admitted it. How?

"I AM SORRY!!!! I HAVE BEEN UNFAIR TO YOU."

Just so you know, Wan doesn't know the word "sorry". The Detour was between "Cycle or Waltz", again showing how imaginative this race was. Tony and Vannessa finished that in first, and caught a train to Rotterdam, where they went to the ECT () and found the Roadblock. This was another "post x, y, z" thing, but we did get a nice Maya/Alejandro interruption during this part of the leg, which is always good. Tony & Vannessa got through that in first, and checked in first, with Dave & Osten picking up a comfy 2nd. The most hilarious thing about the leg?

Sharon & Jaye checked in 3rd.

In other news, April & Tim were eliminated (despite having been more active than Bimmy & Timmy in the earlier parts of the Race). As an aside, April would eventually admit that she forgot about the game on purpose.

LEG SIX: Rotterdam, The Netherlands -> Copenhagen, Denmark
- Sharon & Jaye, shockingly, took the lead, along with Dan & Cobra, but again random flight times meant they were 5 minutes behind Tony & Vannessa, Dave & Osten and Elizabeth & Liz. Even with that, Sharon & Jaye managed to get to the Aliemborg first, but the dreaded opening hours meant that they were held up, putting four teams in contention for first. Sharon & Jaye still managed to get to the Detour first though.

I'd like to make the point that I'm not plugging Sharon & Jaye on purpose or anything; it just so happens that they did actually own this entire season throughout. Anyway, back to the shitass tasks, which this time was a Detour between "Search and Eat" and "Play for Money". Keep in mind, money wasn't actually introduced until AT TAR2, so this wasn't money as we call it nowadays. I'm not entirely sure what the hell was going on in this Detour, but Dan & Cobra somehow ended up in first...but again, I'm not sure how. Either way, they went to the Danish Design Centre, where the RB actually had potential of making teams make a design in Paint etc. Instead it turned out to be yet another "post this, that" task which everyone was so fond of. Dan & Cobra arrived at the PS first, and Sharon & Jaye, despite more attempted rigging, came second. Shockingly, Bimmy & Jimmy were eliminated.

LEG SEVEN: Copenhagen, Denmark -> Luxembourg, Luxembourg.
- Was this the Central Europe edition of TAR that went missing? Dan & Cobra and Dave & Osten were first out to the airport this leg, but not that it mattered, as Sharon & Jaye were actually the first to get moving once teams were in Luxembourg (oh, there was some random "find "The Little Mermaid"" task first, but that was stupid so I won't go there). Drama appeared when at some Luxembourg/American place, Tony & Vannessa yielded Dan & Cobra. Another boring ass task Detour where people simply posted things or got lucky followed. Reading this gets tough after a while, people. Dave & Osten happened to get lucky and went to the next location, the Alzette River Boat Dock, where they didn't U-Turn anyone and went in to yet another boring task, this time some Rowing Roadblock that was in no way able to be influenced. They came in first at the PS, "Casemates Bock", followed by Sharon & Jaye, while everyone again complained about the ever so slight rigging going on.

Shockingly, drama then followed, with Tony & Vannessa slightly ahead of Elizabeth & Liz, and a resurgent Dan & Cobra. Tony & Vannessa then decided to U-Turn Elizabeth & Liz, and after what actually looked like a race to avoid elimination, Dan & Cobra survived against the friends, leaving us with a totally unpredictable Final Four >_>

LEG EIGHT: Luxembourg, Luxembourg -> Montreal, Canada
- Interesting events occured at the start of the leg, when Sharon & Jaye and Dave & Osten both went for the FF. It happened to be a luck task, and Sharon & Jaye happened not to do well at it...anyway, the race then went all fucking weird as Dave & Osten's FF clue sent them to Quebec City, while the other three teams got exactly the same clue by just walking to some place. Sharon & Jaye somehow managed to arrive at the airport second, passing both teams that didn't go for the FF, although flights meant that Tony & Vannessa were tied with them, leaving Dan & Cobra behind on their own. Dave & Osten checked in first in Montreal (?) thanks to their FF, and Sharon & Jaye and Tony & Vannessa headed to the Detour. Sharon & Jaye once again were held up by the luck Detour, but managed to get ahead once again, and after another "post a, b, c" RB, they checked in 2nd. Tony & Vannessa disappeared at a crucial moment though, allowing Dan & Cobra to check in 3rd.

The leg was meant to be NEL, but this was (I believe) about the time the whole AT race thing with smiley went down, and AT essentially decided that to preserve his own race, quitting smiley's and bringing us to the F3, with Dave & Osten, Sharon & Jaye and Dan & Cobra all going for first place.

LEG NINE: Montreal, Canada -> Boston, Massachusetts
Guess which team were first to get to NYC? Please, guess. If you didn't say Sharon & Jaye, you fail at life/reading. The girls got the first plane and headed to the Washington Square Arch when they landed, followed shortly by Dave & Osten. Here came the Detour for the leg, which was between "Act Out" or "Haul Out". Act Out had teams "memorising" and "performing" a skit that they were then judged on, while Haul Out had teams putting books on a cart. Both Sharon & Jaye and Dave & Osten finished on the same update, where they headed to a hotel booking agent to get tickets at 3:45 / 4:00 / 4:15. The girls pipped the friends to the 3:45, only for everyone to find out that there were actually "3 or 4 more legs left".

Revolt occured, and smiley bumped it back down to 1 leg, then made this the final leg. In a wholly bizzare task, teams were then given $5000 and told to spend it on whatever they liked. This, however, was unlike the similar but much more awesome task in Crow's race, because nobody seemed to spend more then $250 the entire time, and you could actually choose how much you spent...yeh. Sharon & Jaye beat out Dave & Osten by $500, then got on a tour bus around Brooklyn, where they had to beg. Smiley forgot to update Sharon & Jaye and was hated on, leading to another classic smiley quote:

"(sorry please dont hate me)"

If only we ever listened...anyway, the bizzaro-ass final leg continued as Sharon & Jaye passed that task and then fell in to a random street picking task, which happened to hold them up and allowed Dave & Osten time to catch up a little...only for them to get held up even more, until smiley told them where to go. Another post this, that, task followed on a helicopter as the leg draaaaaaged...until we moved to Boston, and teams got to choose a funny type of transport! Sharon & Jaye got on flight one, the other two teams on the second flight.

CAUTION: RIDICULOUS MOMENT OF SMILEY MADNESS AHEAD.

So, having told everyone that the next part of the leg would be the next day, smiley decided to suddenly change that with this post:

"okay i will have new times.

1st flight will arrive in 30 minutes and 2nd flight will land in 40 minutes. JUST TO MAKE THE FINAL LEG SCARY!!!!

WHOOOO "

Then, when Sharon showed up at the right time, smiley revealed that he had to eat/work and was delayed. *sigh*. I fucking had a concussion and still ran a race. Anyway, the delay let Dave & Osten catch up in a first place tie as teams headed to the Freedom Trail, and then smiley decided to hold the leg off until the next day anyway. Then, after teams went to some other house, they found a Roadblock. A Roadblock...that involved teams doing work! After picking a year in the 1700s, they had to write an eight sentence brief on things that happened in American History in that year. Sharon & Jaye, btw, were the only active team at this point, and after the blitzed the RB, they were encountered by...a RANDOM LUCK TASK! Sharon essentially forced smiley to let her just finish the race at this point, and so they headed to the Boston Common, the Finish Line.

Again, smiley had an actual task in mind here, where teams had to list the RBs they had done, and who had done what. That could have been tense, were it not for the fact that Sharon & Jaye were the only ones actually active. The Pit Stop followed, and Sharon & Jaye were rightfully crowned winners, as everyone celebrated the end of this shitfest. Oh, but we ended with perhaps the most amazing BURN ever:

smiley: GUYS GIVE ME A BREAK I AM ONLY 14
Nick: Well, I'm thirteen and I can type a capital letter without pressing caps lock....

Hilarity then ensued when Dave & Osten and Dan & Cobra hit the RB and smiley fucked up hosting once again, even though there was like, no pressure left. Anyway, Dave & Osten finished 2nd, Dan & Cobra 3rd, and things FINALLY had finished.

So, with the race course out of the way, the next update from me will be looking at the teams themselves...even if that'd just be four/five of them (like, the active ones >_>). Feel free to comment on how bad this race was, boiz/girlz.

For me, the best games I've ever played, have been MTAR 2, which I love every single task!! (And had to leave to a summer camp...), and RFF TAR 1 hosted by Redwings, and I congratulate Dan (cdfe88) another time, for beating me, I remember my first leg win without Fast Forwards was in leg 11, I also won leg 12, but was beaten by him un the Finish Line...

Also, Congrats, Moo and Redwings!! Your hosting abilities are the best ones (I think). I also think that hosting a live race has to be very difficult, so congrats also to Snooky, smiley and so on!!
