In this detour teams will have to choose between two very common things in Morocco. The choice is Moroccan Spices or Moroccan Music.
In Moroccan Music, teams will make their way to a nearby performance by a local band. Once there they must using only the instruments provided create a piece of Moroccan inspired music. Once the band members are satisfied with the music they have performed they will receive their next clue.
In Moroccan Spices, teams will make their way to a nearby spice stall where they must prepare a Moroccan dish to the stall owners liking. Once the owner is satisfied with what they have made they will receive their next clue. Teams with a strong palette and good cooking knowledge could see themselves surging ahead.
TASK 1.12 – Post in this thread pictures of the ingredients you would put in a Moroccan inspired dish. Under each picture include a brief statement as to why you would include that ingredient. Each dish will receive two scores out of 100 which will be averaged. The number of points lost will be added to the standard 45 minutes to complete this task.

Merguez is a red, spicy sausage 1) Lamb Meat  Used to make as Sausage. Used widely in Morroco.. A bit Morroco Feel. And use the lamb as the casing.. 2) Beef Meat  Use to make in sausage with the lamb. To have tender feel. Used widely in Morroco too.. 3) Sumac  A tangy purple spice to make the dish tartness. 4) Paprika  A spice made from the grinding of dried fruits of Capsicum annuum is added to add colour and flavour 5) Cayenne Pepper  A hot, red chili pepper added to make the dish more spicy and more flavour 6) Harissa  A North African hot red sauce or paste to make the dish more hot and red.. 7) Couscous  Eaten with Merguez, a dish consisting of spherical granules made by rolling and shaping moistened semolina wheat (sweet corn in Brazil) and then coating them with finely ground wheat flour.

Pastilla is a an elaborate meat pie traditionally made of squab (fledgling pigeons)  1.) Chicken  to make the pastilla due squab is very rare now. 2.) Fillet Fish  to make the pastilla. 3.) Tomato  to make the sauce for pastilla 4.) Honey  to make it sweet 5.) Cinnamon  to make it sweet |
