What is Karma for?? Is it just to say "you did something well", or this kind of things?? ((Why does Bryan Yates have more than 7000 karma points??)) Can someone answer, please?

I think Karma is supposed to be a system that reflects both how much members contribute to a forum as well as how likable/approachable a member is. Something like that. I don't think it was intended solely to show who is "popular" vs. who is not. I personally think the Karma system is mostly a waste of time. It has too much potential to be misused.
