I don't see any mention or posts of one of the best PC games for Tolkien gaming, for those who are interested in turn-based strategy games. Age of Wonders is a deep, challenging, and graphically-impressive game. It involves managing cities, building armies, and having characters who can advance in their skills. First was Age of Wonders, then AoW 2: Wizard's Throne, and the latest is Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic. All three had rave reviews from all the PC gaming mags. Although it isn't Tolkien-licensed, it is a Tolkien-like/D&D-style like world of elves, dwarves, halflings, wizards, etc -- and it has a powerful editor and is wide open to user mods. As you might expect, there are lots of user mods and scenarios for the War of the Ring, some of them really good. There is also an excellent one for the Orc-Dwarf War of the Third Age, the War of the Last Alliance at the end of the Second Age, and various events of The Silmarillion including the fall of Gondolin and the Voyage of Earendil. Go to the store and pick up AoW: Shadow Magic in the bargain bin, learn it, then head to aow2.heavengames.com to download some Tolkien scenarios and mods for it. ---------------------------- R4 3DSR4 3DS cardps3 cheatcode
